We are a newly established nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in Northern California. We rescue street dogs around the world and find them loving homes. Our dogs live at safe boarding facilities and foster homes until adopted.
We provide care and compassion to any dog in need, no matter where it got its start in life.
At the end of 2019, after learning about the plight of one street dog in Turkey who was abandoned and suffering unimaginable cruelty at the hands of heinous individuals, Jessica Wysling and Julie De La Cruz felt compelled to get involved and help save this dog's life. After committing to rescuing Jane, they worked with local volunteers in Turkey to give her loving shelter until they were able to find her a forever family and home. Stopping at saving one street dog was not an option for Julie and Jessica, and Rags2Rescued was founded.
Only The Beginning
– Letter from Jessica, Rags2Rescued Co-Founder
Since our inception just over 6 months ago, we have been focused on establishing trusted rescue and vet partnerships and building a network of amazing volunteers. Despite Covid-19 challenges, we have continued to provide life-saving veterinary care and compassion, making a difference to our former street dog’s futures.
Abandoned and neglected dogs need help all over the world and Rags2Rescued exists to help any dog in need regardless of borders. In the USA, we have humane shelters, animal cruelty laws and organized rescue groups that work hard to provide a second chance, where possible, for many of these dogs. Sadly, in many other countries, over-population of street dogs due to no spaying/neutering and lack of animal protection laws and humane shelters are resulting in exponential increases of horrifying neglect and abuse cases. These dogs are left with no choice but to try to survive, often injured, in harsh conditions and alone on the streets.
