On the 14th of July, 2020 we were alerted to a horrific neglect and abuse situation by one of the volunteers we work with. Our hearts broke for this dog the moment we saw his first video. Thankfully the “owners” agreed to release the dog the next day- the only good thing they ever did for him. Working quickly with the volunteer we brought our guy in for emergency vet care. He has been diagnosed with leishmaniasis and anaplasmosis. Leishmaniasis is a parasite disease from bites of sand flies that causes skin reactions and potentially organ failure. Our vets have started treatment and are hopeful this horrible disease has been caught early. Anaplasmosis is a bacteria from tick bites and treatment has already been started. All our collective energies are going into doing everything we can right now to ease this dog's pain.
While Remo is not quite ready for adoption, we are in real need for donations to help support his extensive medical needs and cost. If you are able to contribute to his care, please click the sponsorship link below to help him!
Can’t adopt right now? You can still make a difference!
